Song for the day: We Know The Way from Moana

Because I saw it the other day and have had this song in my head ever since. LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA IS A GENIUS.

So yeah. I’m not sure how much there is to update you on. I feel a bit like a failure at everything right now, so I’ve just been listening to soundtracks and playing The Sims and trying not to notice everyone being amazing at life.

I saw Moana the other day so I was in a massively Disney mood, and then Laura tagged me in another Disney tag, so of course I had to try my hand at it! You can read hers here and my Beauty and the Beast one here.

The Rules:
* Mention the creator (Kirsty and the Cat Read)

* Thank/mention the person who tagged you

* Match books or characters to the questions below

* Tag as many people as you like
1. Reflection “When will my reflection show who I am inside” – An inaccurate book cover that doesn’t really reflect what the book is about.

This has been bandied about from book blogs to Buzzfeed, but seriously. Wtf is with the nest on the front of The Cursed Child? I guess it could be reflective of how Harry wants to protect Albus, but I’m just reminded of old-school Peter Pan. The nest is also plastered all over the Palace Theatre, yet (keeping the secrets I swear) the atmosphere of the play itself is more reminiscent of AVPM (if it had a bigger budget, but let’s be honest, that’s part of the Starkid charm). WHY THE NEST?

2. Mushu – A character with a lot to prove.

Inej from Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows constantly pushes herself to prove that she is more than people think she is. No longer trapped in a brothel, she is skilled and an invaluable member of Kaz’s team. Crooked Kingdom is on my tbr, and I can’t wait to see more of her.

3. “I’ll make a man outta you!” – A character who develops the most OR a book with some kick-a** training scenes

Ce’Nedra from David Eddings’ The Belgariad (and Mallorean but her transformation in the first few books is awesome). From spoilt Imperial Princess (ok, so she keeps a few qualities) to part-saviour of the world, she remains a spitfire through out. The image of her leading the Tolnedran legions when she is described as aflame is one of my favourite scenes of all time. I will protect Ce’Nedra forever.

4. “A Girl Worth Fighting for” – A ship you will defend till your last breath

Adam and Ronan from The Raven Cycle. I need a whole series about them living HEA, but until then I’ll settle for Tumblr gifsets. I just want them both to be happy, ok??

5. Huns – A book/character that gives you the creeps

Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill. I wanted to scrub my skin down/off after finishing this. It played deep into my insecurities and it was very disconcerting. Also the ending. Hfkanxjgjw.

6. Mulan – Your favorite badass female protagonist

See I tried to keep away from Eddings because I am so in love with the The Belgariad world that I want to use examples from it for everything. And then I used Ce’Nedra. So I will not use Polgara for this answer (even though my heart is screaming for me to do so. I love that woman.) but instead all the main characters from Naomi Alderman’s The Power. The whole story is build on women being badass and I love it. More of that, please.

So there we are. What do you guys think? What would your answers be? I’m not tagging anyone so have at it!

I’m going to go throw myself into baking my Grandma’s ginger biscuits now. Hope you’re all ok out there and have a very Merry Christmas!

You’re not a failure! You got a Masters in the field you love this year, you’ve lost two stone, and you got (and smashed) work experience at Penguin, while navigating working in London. You’re doing fantastic.
I also need a whole series about Adam and Ronan. Plus Blue travelling the world being badass.
